Today's the opening of the 2012 London Olympics!
The Olympics is opening at 9 in the evening UK time and will be shown in the Philippines live at 4am via TV5. (London, United Kingdom is 7 hours behind the Philippines)
Okay. So I slept early last night in hopes of waking to my alarm which was set at 4am just in time for the opening of the Olympics. But due to my stupid messed up body clock, I woke up almost 3 hours before my alarm. Now, it's past 2am and I'm slightly sleepy but I'm afraid that if I go back to sleep, I would not wake up in two hours! I'll probably just read The Mortal Instruments, which is what consumes my time these past couple of days, until the opening.
Anyhoo, I've never watched an opening before, not that I've remembered anyway and my mom told me that it was something I should not have missed. So, here I am, fighting my drooping eyelids and waiting for the time. Hopefully, the opening ceremony would be as beautiful as my mom tells me and worth of my deprived sleep.
I've also heard that the Philippines has never gotten a gold for the Olympics, so lets cross our fingers and hope that this year would be different. Let us bring home the bacon!
Best of luck to all the Filipino athletes and may the odds be ever in our favor!!! :)
ETA: So, I've watched the opening of the olympics and all I can say is that it was totally and utterly amazing!!! Danny Boyle really outdid himself this time. You just have to watch it from beginning to the end, well, except when all the 205 countries were called and I was so closed to switching off the TV and going back to sleep. I mean, seriously, does those countries really exist?! Haha. But I'm so glad I kept on watching until the end or else I would've missed my favorite part of the ceremony which is the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron. I was just in awe when the copper petals rose and formed one torch. Btw, Thanks mom for convincing me to watch it, it was totally worth my deprived sleep!
